At its most recent meeting, the LCMS Council of Presidents issued a statement regarding the handling of Synod properties in Hong Kong and the relocation of the Asia Regional Office to Chiayi City, Taiwan.
Meeting in St. Louis May 18–19, the LCMS Board of Directors adopted a fiscal year 2019 operations budget of $69.4 million, a figure nearly $8 million lower than that of the current fiscal year, which ends June 30.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod has announced 10 missionaries accepting calls to serve in seven countries around the globe. The Synod’s newest missionaries serve in Germany, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Peru, Spain and Uganda.
Positions are available with Concordia University System schools, Hong Kong International School and Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.
Dr. Mary Scott, former provost at Concordia University Irvine, is the new head of school at Concordia International School Shanghai.
In addition to adopting several other actions at its Aug. 22 meeting, the Synod’s Board of Directors held its triennial retreat.
