New Journal of Lutheran Mission considers ‘worldwide’ Lutheranism

As the 500th anniversary celebration begins to wind down, the December 2017 issue of the Journal of Lutheran Mission looks at the current state of Lutheranism in the world.

Included are essays by the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod; the Rev. Alexey Streltsov, rector of Lutheran Theological Seminary in the Siberian Evangelical Lutheran Church; and the Rev. Dr. Lawrence R. Rast Jr., president of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Director of LCMS Church Relations Rev. Dr. Albert B. Collver III says that the essays, originally delivered at a conference in Prague on Lutheranism in the 21st century, “seek to address some of the challenges and highlight some of the opportunities the Lutheran Church experiences presently.”

This issue also features book reviews examining works on the Reformation, church planting, a new translation of Bo Giertz’s collection of Holy Land observations With My Own Eyes, and a new conversation about Law and Gospel.

Download the latest JLM issue; then join others in an ongoing conversation regarding mission work both at home and around the world.
