The president is the chief executive officer of the college’s Board of Regents and serves as the college’s spiritual, academic, and administrative head. According to the LCMS Handbook, nominations may only be accepted from LCMS congregations, the Concordia–Selma faculty, the Concordia–Selma Board of Regents, and the LCMS Board for University Education. Nominations must be postmarked no later than July 31. All submissions must be sent by surface mail and must indicate the date on which the submitting body resolved to make the nomination, and include the nominee’s phone or e-mail contact information.
