The Rev. Dr. Brian Friedrich, president of Concordia University, Nebraska, has accepted a call to become the tenth president of Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn., effective Jan. 1.

Convention delegates vote to support Concordia University System (CUS) schools in faithfully confessing God’s Word, while also streamlining the process of calling CUS presidents.
The board also heard a presentation on the Synod’s new national mission emphasis, ‘Making Disciples For Life.’
Due to two major triennial events, the approved budget is $12 million higher in FY20 than in FY19, but the expenses for those events are essentially recovered through fees.
The move, which brings the Synod’s indebtedness to external entities to zero, will save $1.4 million a year in principal and interest payments.
Dr. Russell P. Dawn of Irvine, Calif., will replace the Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Gard, who announced his retirement in 2018.
Meyer, who also served as former executive director of the LCMS Board for Higher Education, died on Feb. 1.
