Movie review: ‘Fences’

  1. Just an FYI; The cemetery scenes, which were actually filmed first, were filmed at the historic LCMS Minersville Cemetery in Pittsburgh. This cemetery, dating to the mid-19th century, is located in the neighborhood where August Wilson grew up, and upon which his many plays – including “Fences” – were based. The film production made a nice contribution to it’s on-going upkeep, for permission to film there.

You can learn more about the cemetery here – http://www.palmpa.org/minersville-cemetery/ – and be sure to watch the brief video about recent renovation efforts to restore this resting place of so many early Lutherans here in Pittsburgh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXfQeSOSx6k
