TimeLine Newsletter – First Quarter 2016

TimeLine-First-Quarter-2016-233x300The first quarter 2016 edition of Black Ministry’s TimeLine newsletter celebrates and reflects on 100-plus years of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod sharing the Gospel in Alabama.

This legacy of evangelism began with Rosa J. Young and her work with the Synodical Conference Mission Board, the mission arm of the LCMS in the early 1900s. Rosa’s love for Jesus Christ and for “her people” in Alabama pushed her to share the Gospel light throughout the Black Belt. And that Gospel light still shines there today.

You can see that bright light in the Gospel seeds members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mobile, Ala., are planting in the Trinity Gardens neighborhood. Trinity members share God’s love and mercy with the residents of this impoverished community where substandard housing and high unemployment afflict single parents and families.

LCMS Black Ministry welcomes articles highlighting events, programs, activities, mission and “best practices” to share with other LCMS congregations in TimeLine. Please send your articles to the Rev. Dr. Roosevelt Gray Jr. at roosevelt.gray@lcms.org by March 30 for the second quarter 2016 newsletter.
