Service Learning for Confirmation

  1. Carl Vehse says:

Instead of “Confirmation,” a better word for a course of doctrinal instruction is “catechesis,” which is given to catechumens. Lutheran Confirmation is a rite in which, following examination, a confirmand makes (confirms) a public profession of faith and subscribes unconditionally to the doctrine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (i.e., the Book of Concord) as being faithful and true. Following confirmation a baptized member becomes a communicant member of the congregation.
