  2. Keith Besel says:

Are you planning to make some kind of bulletin insert or the like available so that our churches can share this information effectively with our people?

The “refugee” help advocated by LIRS will come largely from U.S. taxpayer dollars, which are the same U.S. tax dollars which makes up 97% of the funding of LIRS, according to a September 4, 2015, Refugee Settlement Watch article, “Lutherans call for 200,000 refugees to be admitted to US in 2016 including 100,000 Syrians.”

As for the “refugees” themselves, a Breitbart article, “More than 90 Percent of Middle Eastern Refugees Are on Food Stamps,” notes:

“According to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) data highlighted by the immigration subcommittee staff of Sen. Jeff Sessions, chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, in FY 2013, 91.4 percent of Middle Eastern refugees (accepted to the U.S. between 2008-2013) received food stamps, 73.1 percent were on Medicaid or Refugee Medical Assistance and 68.3 percent were on cash welfare.”

Question: Is the LCMS tied in with World Relief?

    1. LCMS Church Information Center says:

Thank you for your blog post. If you are referring to http://worldrelief.org/, the LCMS has no ties with this organization.

      1. Jennifer says:

Good! Thank you for your reply too!

  5. Dawb says:

Shouldn’t Christian refugees from the Middle East already in America seeking asylum but being imprisoned indefinately by our own government in California also be considered?

  6. Laurie Neira says:

It is our Lutheran duty of the Lutheran Church of our Synods’ to say our prayers and to hold our Reverends of every parish as their Congregations in our hearts to innovate and create places that nurture and sustain faiths in the people they serve. Shouldn’t we be reminded, GOD is good every day for our faiths to uphold us and to also bless all they, our Pastors, need. And when the true Church is persecuted within their Authority, let us not be deceived when those trials and tribulations test our true devotion unto GOD and Theirs. GOD doesn’t instrument evil nor its fear! Thank You LORD Jesus! Amen.

  7. Tracy says:

I’m so glad to see this LCMS response to the violence and evil that Christians are facing. Thank you!

  8. Gerald says:

The US should give preference to Christian refugees.
The LCMS should stand up and state that.
What would Luther think of admitting ‘the Turk’?
