Pressure Points (March 2014)

  1. When a sin is overbearing, private confession may be necessary for relief and is available in our Lutheran church. Knowing God has forgiven us we must then learn to forgive ourselves and trust in God and continue our lives.

However, some sins are repeated so often, even though we try hard to be sinless, and we know we did wrong, are not burdensome. Confession together in church is good because we are acknowledging we are all sinners, are trying to live sinless together and accept God’s forgiveness and love.

Being raised Catholic and becoming Lutheran upon growing in my personal faith, I feel an understanding of this issue and do not believe everyone needs or should be forced to confess privately.
