Seminaries announce workshops for clergy, laypeople

Registration is open for a number of off-campus continuing-education workshops both LCMS seminaries are offering around the country this summer.

The cost for each of 11 workshops offered by Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, is $125.  Taught by seminary faculty, the workshops are open to professional church workers, laypeople, and students.

The dates, locations and topics of the St. Louis workshops are:

  • June 10-12, Waverly, Iowa — “Why Some and Not Others?  The Canon of the New Testament in Historical and Theological Prospective.”

  • July 7-9, Phoenix, Ariz. — “Amos.”

  • July 14-16, Wichita, Kan. — “Righteousness and the Righteous Life: Galatians, James and Justification.”

  • July 14-16, Cedar Crest, N.M. — “James:  The Apostle of Faith and Works.”

  • July 21-23, West Fargo, N.D. – “Amos.”

  • July 21-23, West Des Moines, Iowa — “Practicing Ambidexterity.”

  • Aug. 4-6, Danville, Va. — “God’s Blue Planet.”

  • Aug. 11-13, Seymour, Ind.  — “God’s Blue Planet.”

  • Aug. 11-13, Bloomington, Ill. — “Practicing Ambidexterity.”

  • Aug. 11-13, Tryon, N.C. — “The Uniqueness of Christ in a Pluralistic Culture: Through Lutheran Eyes.”

  • Aug. 12-14, Cleveland, Ohio — “Psalms.”

Tuition costs for each of the 22 workshops offered by Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., vary between $75 for a three-day course and $225 for four- and five-day courses.  Vicars and students from LCMS colleges and seminaries may attend free of charge.
