The new “Hope and a Prayer Center by the Sea” provides pastoral care, counseling, after-school programs, literacy training and food programs to a hurting community in the name of Christ.
It may seem like devastating tragedies are never-ending, but there’s a light in the darkness: LCMS Disaster Response is there, “reaching out with caring and compassion in the name of Christ.”
The fifth such conference hosted by LCMS Disaster Response, it is the first to address the church’s role in the wake of man-made tragedies such as shootings or bombings.
As recovery efforts continue on the East Coast following the ravages of Superstorm Sandy last fall, the LCMS issues a new $70,000 grant to help 13 families in New Jersey.
