As interim director of LCMS Specialized Pastoral Ministry, the Rev. Joel Hempel facilitates ecclesiastical endorsements, recruits chaplains for specialized pastoral ministry and provides opportunities for continuing education and peer support. Hempel is a certified clinical pastoral educator (CPE) with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and certified pastoral counselor with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.
